Communications in the Built Environment

Statement My project; “Inside Out: Outside In” explores the relationship between a room and the outside space it occupies. Natural lighting plays a major role within the space, as keeping it as open as possible creates a space which is interior, with the experience of the outside. Windows from all angles create for an immersive outdoor experience, and the opening of doors into an exterior verandah space further coalesce the outside and inside. Experimenting with the size, placement and frequency of openings has brought me to the perfect combination of exterior ambience while retaining the privacy of a bedroom.
